YouTube can be a great source for traffic to any site, but not when people make fatal mistakes. Follow these tips to make sure you are not an entrepreneur who makes one of these deadly mistakes.

The top 4 common YouTube mistakes you want to avoid!

Looking at the Screen, Not the Camera

This is tempting to do because you want to look at the content. However, it does not look right on camera.

To your viewers it looks like you’re looking down or off to the side when you’re looking at your screen. You want to make eye contact with your customers and the only way that will happen is if you look into the camera.

It you’re using a camera to record yourself, always, always, always look directly into the camera.

Bad Sound

Having shoddy video quality is one thing, but shoddy audio is another. Many top YouTube channels are built on mere webcams which decrease the video quality.

If you have lousy audio, then your viewers can’t hear what you’re saying. Not hearing your message is undoubtedly worse than having a poor picture.

Make sure your audio is not too loud and not too soft. Above all, make sure the audio is not too fuzzy.

Invest in a better mic over a better camera. Consider sound editing software to remove any background noise.

Poor Keyword Choice

Make sure you have keyword rich titles on all of your videos for marketing purposes. That way, when people search for something related to your topic, your video will come up in the search.

Having a keyword rich title doesn’t mean you’ll rank in the search. There are a number of things like views, comments, and video responses that go into determining where you rank. That said, if you don’t have your keyword in the title, you really kill your chances of ranking in the search.

No Contact Info, No Call to Action

Since you can actually put links in your video, you have no excuse to not have a solid call to action in your video.

Even if you’re not using it as a marketing tool, you want to link to your website to build your brand and build your list. This way you can send them more videos and more content in the future.

If you don’t get them to go to your site through your video then you are missing out on a great opportunity to maintain that connection you have created by sharing your awesome video with them.

You can put either your contact information or your website in your video. Link directly to it from within your video and in your video description.
